Do you put the drops just anywhere in your mouth? Take them right when you wake up? I read somewhere nothing to eat or drink for 15 minutes before or after taking them – did you do that? And at night, did you take them just before you went to bed?

I put them on top of my tongue and swallow – once in the morning when I wake up and before bed. I’ve never paid any attention to not drinking or eating before or after and haven’t had an issue. I’ve taken them with food, with water, and with herbal tea and still lost 24 pounds. It seems, like with everything, there are the hardcore instructions and a real life version. I’m not willing to let hcg take over my life and have still done just fine.

Thanks for sharing. I’ve been keeping my drops by my toothbrush and take them first thing in the a.m. and last at night. I put them under my tongue so I don’t have to taste ‘em as much, not that they even taste very much anyway.

I was nervous about cooking meat w/out oil b/c meat tends to stick to our cast iron pans, but I just poured some balsamic vinegar in the pan before adding the meat, and it didn’t stick at all, added some flavor, but wasn’t too strong. I think I’ll do that a lot.

Also you could put in a little chicken or beef broth to make it not stick.

I’ve really enjoyed both of the dressings I made for salads – the Strawberry Viniagrette and the Citrus dressing. I just liked having something to put on my lettuce/spinach – I can’t choke it down dry.

And the George Forman has proved to be a great tool so far…

Has anyone ever used Pam type spray? I know that it has oil in it, so that’s a no-no, but I looked at the ingredient/nutrition info and it says that it has 0 calories and 0 fat and 0 everything else, so I was wondering if one small spray would be fine. Anyone else ever used it?

Becca, I remember reading some place that you could do a 1/4 of a second spray on your George foreman occassionally with Pam if needed. But it encouraged you not to do it often.

For my second fruit – today AND yesterday – I did a diced up apple with cinnamon and stevia and microwaved it for 2 minutes… mmmm so yummy! Felt like a treat!

Confession: Today when I went to add the cinnamon I looked closer at my cinnamon shaker and lo and behold it was Cinnamon SUGAR – as in I’d combined cinnamon and sugar and put it in that shaker at some point and forgot about it!! So yesterday’s apple had real sugar on it and stevia and today I used the cinnamon sugar on a diced apple for Rob and I did only the plain cinnamon and stevia. So that doesn’t count as cheating does it?

Definitely doesn’t count because you didn’t know. Almost every day I do an apple chopped tiny with cinnamon and I love it. One of my favorite treats.

I had a tasty thing today. I had tomatoes with basil and some salt and pepper. All chopped up and eaten together. It would have been good on some Melba toast too.

Did we find out if Balsamic Vinegar is allowed? Because that’s the only thing- just a splash of it- that would have made it better! WOOT!

I just looked at OLD BAY doesn’t have oil or sugar. I had some sprinkled on shrimp and George Forman-ed (yes it’s a verb now) and it was TASTY TASTY!

Today I ate a chicken soup with home made chicken broth and cabbage — it was actually really good and pretty filling.

100 g pre-cook weight chicken breast, grilled in a pan + pepper & a bit of garlic
3 cups of chicken broth
two big handfuls of shredded cabbage

boiled the cabbage in the chicken broth, then diced the grilled chicken and threw it in. i added some crushed red pepper to spice it up.

Es and I made a really good Chicken Salad recipe.

It was:

4 oz chicken
1 apple
3 stalks of celery
1/8 teaspoon of cinnomin

(the recipe calls for a dash of nutmeg and something else but we didn’t have it so we did salt, pepper, and some garlic powder & it was SUPER filling a decent amount of food, and was TASTY!

i might have to be brave and post all my stats — probably not as big a deal for a guy :-) we did the ‘bod pod’ body fat test today over at BYU. it was pretty cool and definitely an eye opener on body composition. we took some funny pics — i’ll post ‘em tomorrow maybe and put a link up. i’ll get the other stats as well. i think it would be fun to make a chart of everyone starting from “0″ and tracking the weight loss.

Well I’m not putting numbers if no one else is… Wah… I guess starting at 0 for everyone and tracking the progress from there is a good way to do it too! So today, day 1 of drops, I’m +2.2 lbs. Hoping to see the numbers go steadily down soon…

Ok I already said my before stats in a different post so I’m just going to go for it. It was weird cause I was weighing myself for a few days before and Friday (new years eve) was my high at 139.7… then it went down till day 1…

Starting weight: 136.1
After loading (day 4): 138.3 – did I not eat enough??

Are we doing measurements? Maybe we should just wait for the afters?? Ha ha…

Okay — here’s my official stats on Phase 2 day 1:

Height: 6’3″
Weight: 228 lbs
Body Fat: 35.4% (that’s 80 lbs of fat!)
Chest: 43.75″
Waist: 43.75″
Hips: 43.75″ (as you can see, I am pure fat, squeezed through a 43.75″ tube)
Arms: 14″
Legs: 26″

Looking forward to *shrinking* these numbers over the next several weeks.

The only thing I hate more than ironing is measuring myself. BUT I want RESULTS and this is definitely a great way to see numbers beyond the scale. Since I know very few of you, I feel completely comfortable posting ALL my stats. BUT, if I become the first lady and these show up in some unauthorized biography, so help me. You’ll wish the worst thing in your life was a plate of spinach with lemon juice on it.

Weight: 148.8 lbs (I prefer my weight in KG)
Chest: 39″ (the only thing I don’t want to lose)

we’ve just been putting all our fish in the over with some spices on ‘em and then squeezing lemon &/or lime over them before eating. the mahi was great and the talapia has been great as well.

Last night we were having steak and spinach and I just didn’t feel like eating a big plate of spinach again. I usually like spinach fine in a “regular” salad, but lemon juice on plain spinach didn’t cut it. So last night I had an idea….

I combined in the blender and made a “smoothie” (quotes, cause it’s a very generous term!)

1) Two big handfuls of spinach
2) 6 strawberries
3) 1 cup of crushed ice
4) 1 cup of water

Blended it up and it was a nice, cool drink that I was able to quickly chug down. Knocked out my veggie and fruit. I ate my steak solo before and enjoyed it.

Becca would have added some stevia to it for extra sweetener, so you could try that as well.

I plan to try this with an orange tonight, and when I go on maintenance / Phase III, this will make a good breakfast (along w/an egg or something!)

I had this again last night w/an orange instead of strawberries. Worked great. It’s way easier for me to gulp down an ice cold glass of this than slug through a plate of leaves.

Ok so when we say ” I lost ___ lbs yesterday” we mean when we weighed ourselves in the morning it shows how well we did the day before right?

This morning I had gone down almost a lb, I was – oh brother I’m just going to say numbers here – 138.3 yesterday morning and 137.6 today. My pre-load weight was 136.1… but I also weighed 139.7 last Friday… (before starting drops or anything…)

Ew, I want to see a 3 lb drop! That sounds great!! At least by tomorrow want to be back to the pre-load weight.

I dropped a pound but my weight fluctuates WILDLY. Like during the loading phase my weight went up 5 pounds, then down 5 the next day, then up 5 again, and down 5 again. It’s so weird. I weigh myself first thing in the morning and wear the same clothes. But at least it went down today!

Liv, have you thought about getting a new scale or replacing the batteries in yours? I don’t really know about THAT kind of crazy! For me, to jump all over the place on this would make me have quit. It is worth it because you see results.

Ha! I don’t know if that’s a compliment or what… task master! ha ha… but yes, it does help that Liv and I see each other every day pretty much and today we planned out our meals through January 23rd. One reason being I’m going to be babysitting for a week and need to have my meals prepared ahead of time or I know it’ll be way too hard!

This morning I’m down 5.3 but just so no one feels bad, I’ve never lost that much in 1 day. My weight fluctuated all the way through maintenance rather than stabilizing so I’m wondering if that has something to do with it. Also, I did yoga yesterday which really helped me at the end of my last phase 1. If you’re struggling you should try it – I’ll even let you borrow my DVD for a day.

i stepped on the scale and lost another 2+ pounds, so it’s 5 down from the starting point of phase 2. energy is a bit low, but overall i’m feeling better than i expected. i do miss some of my dear friends — chips & queso as well as dr. pepper.

Down 1.2 today. I was hoping for more since it’s only day 2 but I’m trying to be optimistic.

Liv – sometimes I’d only drop a little one day and then the next drop a lot. Make sure that you’re standing squarely on the scale. I have the one you do and if I’m even a little off balance my weight can fluctuate by up to 4 pounds.

Yeah, I felt really awful this morning so I had a hardboiled egg. That helped a bit. Today was WAY hard for some reason though. We’ll see what tomorrow brings. I had that stew for lunch and a bowl of chicken mexican soup w/ a couple Melba toasts.

Today was my first day on a VLCD (I’m learning the lingo). The loading phase netted a 1.4 lb increase which took me beyond a number I spend nearly every minute of my life trying to avoid. BUT, I’m okay with it after hearing the success you are all having. I felt fine today until about 4 o’clock when my body told me it wanted a chocolate chip cookie. Another 32oz of water squashed the craving. The truth is that I felt a ton better today than the last three days of gluttony.

I was up 1.4 today. Trying not to be discouraged because I had lunchmeat yesterday (I was desperate) but it still stinks. Again I didn’t measure myself before starting but I think my body is changing (not like puberty) so I’m focusing on that and hopefully the scale is kinder to me tomorrow.

Day 9 – down 2 lbs exactly today! I was so excited!

It was encouraging. Especially since I forgot to take my drops last night!! Ahhh! I was SO MAD this morning when I realized it! Lindsay said to just take my drops this morning like normal… hope it doesn’t effect tomorrow’s weigh in or anything… I also didn’t eat my melba toasts last night I wonder if that helped at all…

I also haven’t been mixing veggies at all, & have weighed all my meat to exactly 4 oz. I even cut out Melba Toast today. Not quite sure what’s going wrong. Guess we’ll see tomorrow. Wish my body ‘happy fat burning’ – ‘night!

Happy for your good news Olivia! It’s so frustrating not seeing immediate results.
Ben, glad the weight is still going down!
My weight loss stalled for 2 days, so I cut out the extra food I’d been adding (although I still ate 6 ounces protein instead of 4). Luckily, my energy didn’t suffer too much (maybe I just needed more time to get used to so little food??), and I was down almost 2 lbs. the next day, but it has stalled again, and I can’t cut back anymore, I’m already constantly hungry and a little low energy. It’s funny, because normally I would never expect to loose weight this quickly, but like Olivia said before, with how little food I am eating, how can it not just be dropping off like crazy?!

Day 10: After my lovely 2 lb loss yesterday I GAINED .3 lbs this morning. Ew. Really hoping it goes back down tomorrow morning.

Maybe it was that I missed the drops 2 nights ago? Do you think the fact that Liv and I have been walking at the gym would mess us up at all? Definitely not eating anything I shouldn’t, no mixing veggies, and drinking tons of water… boo….

Liv and I are not losing like you guys are – what else can we do??? We are barely eating 500 calories – in fact we counted it out today and maybe we ate under 500 sometimes so we will be sure to eat at least 500 calories… drinking LOTS of water… what else???

Thats frustrating – I know this sounds crazy, but you might try increasing your calories. I realize the HCG is supposed to prevent this, but its not unheard of for people not to lose weight because they are eating TOO few calories and their bodies kind of shut down. – Just a thought

Es I’m so sorry! I bet that is so frustrating. I agree with Bens suggestion and maybe try it but also, can you try not working out? That is burning up a few more and maybe that will help.

Yeah, it’s been annoying. We’ve been following STRICT LETTER OF THE LAW on this- no eating after 7, no mixing veggies, only 4 Melba toast a day, lots of water, no spices w/ oil or sugar. Seriously, a SUPER strict diet. But it’s true, somedays we’ve eaten under the 500 cals, but usually right on the 500 calorie mark.

I’m moving down but it’s NOT a pound a day or anything. I lost about .2 today. We have been walking but we haven’t done it a ton- only twice?

i had my first UP day w/a 0.4 lb increase. ewwwwww. i can see how a little up and down movement would be pretty discouraging on this absolutely retarded diet. i had a big loss day yesterday, so i figure it averages out okay. as long as it keeps going down this week.

Finally! Down 1.6 lbs today!

And YES – going down or staying the same is soooo annoying. We are babysitting now and they have all this yummy junk food… ugh… stay strong….

I had a big (for me) drop today of 2.5 lbs. We did work out the day before? Does that make a difference? WHO KNOWS! And I did… get ready for TMI… I warned you… turn back if you don’t want to know… okay, I pooped too. And hadn’t for like 5 days so it might have something to do with that. :)

Yay!! You both had big days, I’m so glad! And AP, I feel you, I gained .5 today. I’m hoping it is because I didn’t poop today for the first time this round. Let’s hope my guts get it together for tomorrow.

And I’m about to SCREAM because I was UP 2.2 lbs!!!!!!!!! Seriously you guys I was about to throw the scale I was so mad.

Wondering if because I moved my scale?? I read that somewhere scales don’t like to be moved. What the heck is up with that? We are babysitting for rob’s aunt & uncle and I needed to bring it with me!

Also I was up from 3 am – 5:30 am so could the lack of sleep affect it?

All I know is I’m super discouraged and there is LOTS of junk food here and I’m feeling super tempted. Help!

All I can say is I am SO sorry, and yes, it must have something (weird!) to do with moving the scale. I don’t think there is anyway you would gain 2+ pounds if you hadn’t eaten anything differently! I think that makes more sense than the being up too, because I’ve been up tons throughout this with Luke, and haven’t had that happen.

Although, I have had my weight fluctuate by almost a pound within 15 minutes on our scale. (I don’t know what my compulsion is with re-weighing myself a dozen times a morning, but sometimes I do, and without doing ANYTHING differently, my weight will totally fluctuate some days. The first day it happened was when I had had my biggest loss, and was feeling excited, until I stepped back on the scale 30 seconds later and was all of a sudden more than half a pound heavier. Andrew said maybe it was because my head had swelled with pride.)

Yay liv!! That’s awesome. I cheated the last two days for my baby’s birthday celebrations and was down .5 and then 0 – won’t complain about that though. I didn’t eat my second fruit today, had a little extra meat so hopefully all is well tomorrow.

Ok so Sunday was the day I was up 2.2 lbs…
Monday down 2.2 so back to 132.0
Tuesday up .5 to 132.5
and today a good loss of .8 so at 131.7

Still though, I’ve lost a total of like 7 lbs??? And I’m almost halfway through? And you say people don’t lost as much later on in the diet? Great…. not going to be too pleased with losing like a total of 10 lbs on this crazy extreme diet. If I could lose at least 15 total I will be happy. Wondering if there’s anything else I can do to make this work better…

Esther, I wonder if you called that lady Kelly if she would have any suggestions? Also, maybe you will loose just as much this next week. Maybe it slows down for some people, but others it stays the same? Sorry, I know you are frustrated.

And I can’t believe you can cheat and still loose Tara! I eat exsactly what I’m supposed to and still don’t eat.

What do you think about eating too little? Like maybe that’s slowing it down some?

I can’t complain. 12 lbs is great but usually after a big loss like today I stay the same for a bit or only go down a few ounces for a few days. It’s definitely not a consistent 1 lb a day loss.

I wish I had weighed because I have noticed me shrinking in weird places but dont know how much. At any rate, I’m down 13 this week, I need to stop cheating and stick with this better so I can have the results I want.

I think upping my calories a bit is helping… last night I had 2 eggs, 1 egg white with asparagus, red onion, and tomato… mixed those veggies, WHAT. Wish I knew it was a direct correlation I’d eat the same thing I did yesterday everyday….
